New update 2.0 for ZOE HD Second Runner is now available. The update shows the new logo “Hexa Drive”, the comapany that did Okami HD for PSN. It looks like the company actually fixed the framerate issue. During cutscenes, some details on the robot are different, or even worse, but if that is a tradeoff, I will take it any day.
The framerate has been vastly improved showing 60FPS most of time. Also actual gameplay is faster (as seen on the first section, when the walking is faster on the after-update), which is shocking.
The video is 720p 30FPS. It will not as smooth as the actual gameplay itself, but you can compare before and after.
As a person who played the original PS2 ZOE2, the ZOEHD was a bit of disappointment. Now i can properly enjoy this game again.

SSX demo was released today on PSN. This brings good old memory from PS2. Original SSX was a great game with great graphic (for PS2) and feeling of big snowboading race. I kinda lost interest over the multiple iterations. But this one seems pretty solid.
Again the scope of map is great and that feeling of rushing down the mountain is greater than ever.
It has two interesting feature that immediately pops out. One is the rewind feature, which you can correct small mistakes, but this does not help much on the race game (duh!). Another thing is Skate (another EA game)-inspired trick control. Basically you can use R stick to do different types of tricks in air. This is pretty cool addition but a little bit confusing at the moment. Although, the control could be a little bit more tighter. Sometimes you always glide through everything especially trees. I think I used to crash into trees alot, but in this demo, somehow trees are like some kinda oiled poll 😛
The video shows the intro (which was unskippable), tutorials and one race.
Soul Calibur 5 is out, and it is really fun game. The severely reduced single player part is a little bit of let down, but the multiplayer mode is quite robust. However, network disconnection happens way too often. There is no host migration feature. If the host leaves the room, the whole room is done for.
The biggest attraction of SC5 is the custom characters. I couldn’t make a single interesting character, but I can meet so many interesting characters. It is actually pretty fun just looking at various custom characters people come up with. So far, Michael Jackson character by mr2die4000 is my favorite due to the somewhat matching fighting style with moonwalk 😀
Also another fun characters are Sheva and Hercule shown here,
The next video shows some epic sit-chronization between me and Darth_Snider. I was LMAO whole time.
A fun game I had last night. This shows a couple of obvious but important things about playing Battlefield 3. Stealing the Tunguska at 2:30 mark. From that moment, it’s more of stream-rolling people. My concern was C4 and coordinated RPG attacks. Luckily I could survive for quite long time.
1. Don’t lose Tunguska ever.
This vehicle is probably most powerful and versatile one among all. Losing this is a big mistake. Since it is one-man vehicle, you should not simply get out and repair leaving it unattended.
2. Tunguska needs nerf.
I believe there was a patch (or at least intention) for nerfing this on PC version. Not sure when PS3 will get this. The bullets are really fast, cover big area, and do not bend over the long distance that much.
3. C4 is more effective than RPG.
Unless two people shoot RPGs, shooting RPG is not as effective as you think. The guaranteed way is putting 3 C4s. Of course, if you can get close to the target 😛
After making “Come to Butt-head” montage, I kinda realized I use slightly unusual music for my montages, meaning not typical heavy-metal, punk, etc. Some are funny some are interesting, but mostly “unusual”
So these are some of my unusual music montages.
Come to Butt-head (From “Beavis and Butt-head Do America”)
Loving You (Minnie Riperton)
What a Wonderful World (Louis Armstrong)
Follow Me (From “Ghost in the Shell : Innocence”)
Most Dear Lady (New Trolls)
The Lonely Shepard (Gheorghe Zamfir)
The Contest (From “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly)
For me, this is a very difficult game to like or hate. I was originally blown away by the first trailer and had extremely high hope for the game. Refreshing setup, kick ass action, preposterous enemies. Really really high hope. Then more I watched gameplay videos, less I was impressed. Finally the demo became available on PSN Today.
The demo includes two Episodes from the game. Episode 5 and 11. The major problem I have with this game is it has way too frequent quick time events (QTE) during the fights. Basic sequence is [button mash]->[QTE to trigger some mildly amusing actions]->[Button mash]->[QTE to trigger next stage]->[Button mash]…….. This context switching is simply way too frequent for me to enjoy actions comfortably. Two Episodes in this demo shows that problem very clearly.
Episode 5 is even worse including completely out of place, IMHO, shooting section to the game.
Episode 11 is an interesting piece. First of all, the music is “out-of-place”, IMHO yet again. I can appreciate that the developer wants to break normal heavy-metal background with classic tune to make things epic, but just adding the music simply does not work in this case. If the music slowly changed into more elaborated tune like mix of orchestra and heavy metal or India style music to match the theme, that would be much better.
The gameplay of Episode 11 is slightly better than Episode 5 due to the lack of shooting parts. But still, the QTE happens way too frequent and it breaks the rhythm of the gameplay. The insane sword scene at the end actually made me chuckle and somewhat raised my interest of the game back.
More I play this, more I appreciate how good the original God of War game was. The first hydra battle in GOW just blew the socks of me. A perfect example of fighting giant boss with multiple stages of fight. Of course, unfortunately GOW made QTE very popular among action games and Asura’s Wrath suffers from it by trying way too hard to make the gameplay epic by incorporating so many small cut-scenes using QTEs. The setting is epic without any question, yet the execution of the gameplay is somewhat lacking… big time.
The graphic wise, the artistic direction is quite good, but the technical side is somewhat inconsistent. Some parts look really good like character modeling, but others like background and other objects (like that stupid ship) are so so. However, this is only the demo. We will see.
I really hope this game delivers when it is release in February 21 US. Hmm.. actually it is released today in Japan. Better check some review 😛
There is an epic bug in the main menu of the Skyrim. I couldn’t continue the new game but couldn’t restart the game because the music was TOO EPIC. Had to listen till the end. Maybe it was careful thought of the developers? I appreciate it 😉
For the bug, many people actually reported this problem and the fix is just delete and reinstall the game data. I deleted both patch 1.01 and game data and didn’t apply the patch. Just installed the data and started which worked out fine.
Then, in the game, this bug happened. It just quit itself. I cannot believe this kinda thing is allowed. Ah, classic Bethesda. So far I am not impressed. Time to apply that patch which might have been the cause of the first problem above.
